Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors
PASTOR HEATHER RIGGS grew up in Oregon's Willamette Valley. She graduated from Claremont School of Theology with a Master of Divinity degree in May 2017. She is a Licensed Local Pastor and a candidate for Elder in the Pacific Northwest Conference. She served as program staff in three other United Methodist churches in the Pacific Northwest Conference before coming to Oak Grove in 2016.
Heather is married to Tom and they have two children, Aelric and Gwen. Tom loves boating and board games, works as a Washington State Park Ranger, and has been very involved in local community groups wherever they've lived. Aelric loves computers, math and science, has worked in tech support and will be attending college at Eastern Washington University. Gwen loves shopping, painting her nails, hanging out with her friends, has worked in childcare and is in high school. Heather loves walking and hiking, sci-fi and fantasy books and movies and being church with her wonderful congregation.
Pastor Heather commissioned on June 17, 2017: The 2017 Annual Conference Session shared by the Oregon-Idaho and Pacific Northwest Conferences of The United Methodist Church ended on June 17th with a Commissioning & Ordination service during which our own Pastor Heather was commissioned into provisional membership, the next step toward ordination. That service may be viewed on YouTube (1hr 53min).
