Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors
Oak Grove United Methodist Church
Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018
9:00am – 3:00pm
14700 SE Rupert Drive (at Oak Grove Blvd.)
For the umpteenth year our church members are again cleaning out their closets, attics, basements and garages. You'll find almost everything under the sun — jewelry, collectibles, clothing, household items, books, toys and much more! — at this huge sale in our parking lot. (What you won't find here are large appliances or furniture, exercise equipment, TVs or computers.)
RAIN OR SHINE:  This event isn't weather dependent! We always arrange all of the clothing and books inside the church, and if it rains many of the other items can be moved indoors.
FOOD AVAILABLE:  Plan to have lunch at our Deli Café (10:00am-2:00pm) inside our Fellowship Hall, where church members will be serving reasonably priced *homemade* soup, salads, sandwiches & pies! The list of pies pictured below is from a previous Rummage Sale and is provided just as an example; this year's varieties may be different.
PAYMENT:  We accept only cash or checks (with ID). We're unable to accept credit cards (sorry).
PLENTY OF PARKING AVAILABLE:  This sale takes place in our front parking lot along SE Rupert Drive. A dozen or so of the church's parking spaces along the street (right in front of the sale) will be available, in addition to other street parking nearby. A large parking lot behind the church is accessible via driveways from both Rupert Drive and Oak Grove Blvd. To see our location on a map, click on "FIND US" near the top of the lefthand menu.
FINAL-HOUR SPECIALS:  During the final hour of the sale, from 2:00-3:00pm, for $3 you can buy a paper grocery bag from us and take home whatever items you can fit into it! Exceptions: Jewelry, items in our collectibles area (pictured above right), and items too large to fit into a grocery bag are sold for half of their marked prices after 2:00pm.
FOR MORE INFORMATION:  Call the church office, 503-654-3161.

Please keep the following tips and guidelines in mind as you dig through your closets, attic, basement and/or garage and decide which treasures to part with:
Please donate only items that are in good condition. If you think it might be garbage, please throw it out instead of donating it!
Please PRICE all items you're donating — except clothing (which we now sell by the bag) and books (which we sell for the following set prices: $0.75 for paperbacks, $2.00 for hardbacks). If you don't have time to price things, we understand; however, pricing requires more volunteer time than we have available, so please donate any unpriced items to Goodwill, the Salvation Army, or other charitable organizations of your choice.
Price stickers and a suggested pricing guide are available in the church office and the Fellowship Hall, or click here to download the pricing guide.
Priced donations can be left in Room 7 in the Education Wing of the church, starting June 1st.
Please note that we are not able to accept donations in the following categories:
  • computers or TVs
  • large appliances or furniture items
  • exercise equipment
  • items that are broken or no longer functional
We post volunteer sign-up sheets in the Fellowship Hall about a month before the sale. MANY volunteers are needed for this important fundraiser, and many types of jobs are available. Please sign up to help!
Thanks for your help in making our Rummage Sale a success — by donating, volunteering, and/or buying!
