Camping & Retreat Ministries
OF THE OREGON-IDAHO CONFERENCE OF THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

"There is no temple like the starry night sky,
and no greater prayer than the dip of a
canoe paddle in a quiet mountain lake.
Take the time to enrich your soul!"
— Jim Frisbie (former OGUMC pastor)

Whether you're a child, youth or adult, consider enriching your faith and broadening your horizons by registering for a United Methodist camp or retreat experience. There is a tremendous variety of camping and retreat opportunities — from horse camps, to quilting camps, to handbell camps! — available YEAR-ROUND for children, youth and adults, through the partnership between the Oregon-Idaho Conference of the United Methodist Church and the Episcopal Diocese of Oregon.

The current camping catalog is available there in PDF format for you to view or print. (Click on the VOLUNTEER link there if you're interested in volunteering to help the staff at any of the camps.) The current catalog of camps and retreats is usually also available in the OGUMC office, containing a complete listing of events for all six of our conference's camps. If you would like to try something new but aren't sure what events might be suitable for you, feel free to ask Pastor Heather for suggestions.

CHRISTIAN CAMPING
...helps build self-confidence and self-esteem.
...is a safe environment.
...is a place to build social skills and make friends.
...is a place to grow in our understanding of God and God's love for us.
Offer your children the opportunity of a lifetime and bring them to camp — or go yourself, whatever your age! A variety of youth and adult camping programs are available year-round.

HELP WITH CAMPING COSTS
Scholarship funds are available to help with both adult and youth camping costs. If you would need a scholarship to attend camp, please don't be shy about asking! Scholarship funds aren't unlimited, so please ask early.

ALL THINGS MAGRUDER
If you’re a fan of Camp Magruder on the coast, the site of many camping programs and OGUMC church retreats, check out their weekly blog, "All Things Magruder", for photos, fun articles, and general news about the camp. It's updated more or less weekly and gives a behind-the-scenes view of what the camp looks and feels like throughout the year. Magruder also has a Facebook page that's run by the camp's staff.
